Speaker: Terrence Thomas
A B.C. native, Terry has been involved in the occupational health and safety field for more than 20 years. His safety career began in 1987 in Edmonton with the CN Rail Safety and Loss Control Department. Terry obtained a Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety from the University of Alberta Extension Division in 1990 while still working with CN Rail.
In 1991 he returned to the Lower Mainland, accepting a position as Health & Safety Coordinator with the District of Matsqui transferring over to the City of Abbotsford after amalgamation in 1995.
2000 – 2005 was spent working in the heavy construction industry primarily as a health and safety advisor; this was followed by 4 years as an internal health and safety coordinator with the consulting firm Golder Associates Ltd.
Terry joined the Food Industry Occupational Safety Association of BC in 2010 as a safety adviser where he is currently working on developing a series of training programs.
